High Arches

High arches, medically known as pes cavus, is a condition where the arch of the foot is raised more than normal, causing increased pressure on the ball and heel of the foot. This abnormal structure can be inherited or result from neurological disorders or muscular imbalances.

What are the symptoms?

Symptoms of High Arches:

  • Foot pain, especially in the heel, arch, or ball of the foot

  • Instability or difficulty with balance

  • Frequent ankle sprains due to poor shock absorption

  • Calluses on the ball, heel, or outer edge of the foot

  • Clawed toes (in some cases)

  • Increased fatigue or discomfort during walking or standing

How Can Custom Insoles Help High Arches?

Custom-made insoles can provide critical support and cushioning for individuals with high arches by helping to distribute pressure more evenly across the foot. They offer targeted support to the arch, which helps prevent excessive strain and improves foot alignment. Because high-arched feet typically lack natural shock absorption, Custom Insoles with full-length cushioning materials like Spenco reduce the impact on pressure points such as the heel and forefoot. Additionally, by stabilising the foot and improving mechanics, Custom Insoles can help reduce pain, improve balance, and lower the risk of injuries such as ankle sprains and stress fractures.
